It Depends
Anyone that has ever been in a leadership position knows that leading people and organizations is rife with problems and paradoxes. How can we transform an organization while at the same time focus on performance? Can we change our culture and get results in the short-term? Why is it that we are often hired for our hard skills, yet get high performance from others if we use soft skills? Can we hold people accountable and treat each person as an individual? How do we make the tough calls and ensure buy-in with our decisions? The answer to these questions is “yes, and,” and “it depends” – another paradox. Throughout the day, we use cases, vignettes, role plays, and discussion to parse many of the problems and paradoxes of leadership.
